Scion FR-S reborn as the 2017 Toyota 86 with more power

image

Arguably the most appealing car in ill-fated Scion’s line-up has been rebranded by Toyota, and it’s with a name that many agree the compact sportscar should’ve had in the first place. The Scion FR-S, the two-seater Toyota developed with Subaru, will be sold as the 2017 Toyota 86 when it joins the line-up this year, echoing the name under which the car is sold elsewhere in the world. Baidu: ‘modest’ city changes needed for self-driving future

image

Self-driving cars are the future, and humans have to learn to deal with that. There’s the need to accept that we won’t always be behind the wheel, of course, but it’s more than that — autonomous cars will one day drive as well as humans, but they will also drive differently, and that means both humans and the cities we construct must shift accordingly. Such is the argument recently put forth by Andrew Ng, chief scientist at Chinese company Baidu.

OPPO R9, R9 Plus debut with 16MP front cameras

image

OPPO has finally unveiled its latest twin flagships and, to some extent, it might be too easy to pass them off as your typical budget, mid-range iPhone knock off. Indeed, OPPO’s chosen design isn’t doing it any favors. But despite actually being mid-range devices, with not so budget-friendly prices and an iPhone-esque facade, the OPPO R9 and R9 Plus do try to offer some level of uniqueness and flair. Windows 10 update released to Windows Phone

A number of smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 begin to receive Windows 10 Mobile via Microsoft today. Hands-on: Samsung’s first Windows 10 tablet aims right at the Surface and iPad Pro

image

Samsung today revealed a price and date for its Surface and iPad Pro lookalike, the Galaxy TabPro S, in preparation for its release tomorrow. We know the specs, and at $899 – keyboard case included – it seems like a nifty deal. But what about actually using it?

Design and Display
The Galaxy TabPro S is a good looking tablet. It borrows heavily from Samsung’s design philosophy since the Galaxy S6, particularly in its rounded metal frame around the edges, uninterrupted by slots other than the headphone jack and USB-C 3.1 port Continue reading

Microsoft Edge Extensions land in latest Windows 10 Preview

image

It has been quite a big Friday for Microsoft. For one, it just started the long overdue rollout of Windows 10 Mobile for some older Lumia smartphones. And, at the same time, its latest preview for Windows Insiders is finally bringing also a long overdue feature to Windows 10. In particular, Microsoft Edge is finally getting its Extensions. To be specific, only three extensions actually. But perhaps more important than the number of available extensions are the signs of life that Microsoft’s newest web browser is still in a somewhat healthy state. Continue reading

LG G5 launching on March 31, will come with extra battery in the US, Cam Plus in some markets

image

LG has confirmed that its new G5 flagship will become available globally starting March 31.

The G5 was released at MWC 2016 to mixed reactions – its design is divisive, even though the G5 is the first phone in the series to feature a metallic body, without sacrificing either the microSD card slot or the removable battery. Continue reading
